Dr. Luis Alberto Vallejo Castillo

Technical and Scientific Development and Innovation

Biography

Dr. Vallejo is the Manager of Technical and Scientific Innovation at UDIBI. He obtained his degree in Biological Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza, UNAM. Dr. Vallejo completed a Master’s degree and Doctorate studies in Pharmacology at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN (CINVESTAV) in collaboration with the UDIBI. During his postgraduate studies, he specialized in the physicochemical characterization of peptides, therapeutic proteins and complex drugs. His doctoral thesis involved sequencing the peptide components of Transferon® by Mass Spectrometry.

His scientific contribution currently consists of 18 articles published in internationally peer-reviewed journals (89 citations, h-index 8), including Analytical Chemistry of the American Chemical Society, Scientific Reports, and Frontiers in Pharmacology. He is a member of the Mexican Society of Immunology and the American Peptide Society. He belongs to the National System of Researchers Level I (SNI-1). He has also contributed with the co-direction of 5 undergraduate theses at the National School of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Chemistry at UNAM. He is currently co-directing a doctoral dissertation to develop new peptide immunomodulators.

He has seven years of experience at UDIBI. He has two years of experience in bioequivalence in the industry, developing analytical methods by mass spectrometry coupled to liquid chromatography for the quantification of small-structured drugs in biological matrices. He has also participated in biocomparability studies of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins using mass spectrometry methods, such as intact mass and peptide mapping.
