Dr. Gabriela Mellado is the Sanitary Compliance Officer of the UDIBI from 2018 to date, previously she was the Responsible of R&D department. She is a Visiting Professor in the Posgraduate Programs of Immunology and in Science and Technology of Vaccines and Biotherapeutics, both of them belonging to the National School of Biological Sciences (ENCB) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), she is also a postgraduate professor at the Latin American University. She is a Chemical Bacteriologist and Parasitologist, with Master’s and Doctorate studies in Immunology, obtained at the ENCB of the IPN. She did a four-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Vaccine Development, University of Maryland at Baltimore, USA.

She worked as a Chemist at Aplicaciones Farmacéuticas S.A. of C.V. as well as in the Research and Development Laboratory of the Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine of BIRMEX S.A. of C.V. She carried out research stays at the Molecular Biomedicine Department of the CINVESTAV-Zacatenco of the IPN and at the “Molecular host-flavivirus interactions” unit of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France.

She later was a researcher at the Universidad Veracruzana. She has taught at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate levels.

She has published 24 scientific articles (more than 300 citations, h-index = 10) as well as 7 chapters in scientific books. She received the 2008 Roche Syntex Dr. Rosenkranz Award for Medical Research in the Basic area. She is a member of the National System of Researchers level I.
